Everything you need, nothing you don’t
Built for people who run their own business, from the bank statement to the BAS.
Banking
Your bank statement is where it starts
FairBooks doesn’t connect to your bank. You download a statement from your internet banking, import it, and work through it line by line, the way you would in Xero.
Statement import
CSV from NAB, CBA, Westpac, ANZ, Up or Macquarie is recognised for you, any other CSV can be mapped once, and OFX and QFX files just work. Duplicates are flagged.
Reconcile every line
Match a line to invoices and bills, including part-payments, create a new record, pair a transfer between your accounts, split it, or ignore it.
Bank rules
Teach FairBooks your regulars once. Matching lines arrive with the account, GST and description filled in, and you still confirm each one.
Code straight to accounts
Code a line to any account in your chart, Xero-style, including owner’s drawings, prepayments and loans.
BAS and GST
The whole BAS cycle, not just the report
Prepare it, lodge it through the ATO portal, then finalise and lock the period. FairBooks keeps the history and settles each period against the ATO payment or refund in your bank.*
Prepare, finalise, settle
Finalising freezes the period’s G1, 1A and 1B and keeps them in your BAS history. Match the ATO payment or refund from your bank to settle it.
Lock dates
Lock the books to the end of a lodged period, so nothing in it can be changed by accident. Corrections go into the current period instead.
Cash-basis GST, to the day
GST follows the date you were actually paid. An invoice paid in parts across two quarters is reported in each, as the money arrived.
The right GST code on every line
GST, GST-free, Input Taxed or BAS Excluded on every line, and a drill-down from each BAS label to the transactions behind it.
Accounting reports
The reports your accountant asks for
Built from the same records as your BAS, and every one exports to CSV.
Profit & Loss
Income against expenses, ex-GST, for any date range.
Balance Sheet
What you own, what you owe, and what’s left, as at any date, with an optional previous month, quarter or year alongside.
Trial Balance
Every account’s debit or credit balance and its movement for the year, with a check that debits equal credits.
General Ledger
Account Transactions for one account or all of them: opening balance, every line with a running balance, and a link back to where it came from.
Getting paid and paying bills
Both sides of the ledger
What customers owe you and what you owe suppliers, with part-payments recorded as they really happen.
Invoices & quotes
Professional invoices and quotes, recurring schedules for regular clients, and Stripe so customers can pay online by card.
Bills to pay
Track what you owe suppliers, pay a bill in parts, keep the supplier’s bill attached, and set regular bills to recur.
Credit notes
Adjustment notes on both sides: credit a customer against their invoices, or record a supplier’s credit against their bills.
Expenses & receipts
Record spending with the receipt attached and GST worked out for you.
Everyday
Built for how you actually work
Owned, built and hosted in Australia.
Works on your phone
Every screen works on a phone, and you can add FairBooks to your home screen like an app.
Your team, with roles
Invite people into your business as an owner, admin or member.
Your data, whenever you want it
Export a financial year as CSVs, receipts and PDFs in one download.
Audit log and ABN lookup
A full history of every change, and business details filled in from the ABR.
*FairBooks is not a registered tax agent or BAS lodgement service and does not lodge with the ATO. You are responsible for verifying all information before lodging.
Switching from Xero
Bring your books with you
FairBooks reads the CSV exports Xero already gives you: chart of accounts, contacts, products, invoices, quotes, bills and credit notes, plus opening balances from a Trial Balance. Every file is previewed before anything is saved.
